Key Appointment For Experience Huntly Project

By Experience Huntly on 04/03/2021

A project aimed at promoting local businesses and tourism across Huntly town and district has progressed with a key appointment.

Vivien Rae has been appointed to the new role of Marketing Manager for the Experience Huntly project by Huntly Business Association.

Miss Rae, who is a freelance marketing & PR professional, brings with her a wealth of experience from across related industries. She has worked across the tourism sector with a variety of independent businesses and organisations to gain buy-in and support including the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, Cornhill Highland Games and the North East 250.

The role is funded by Aberdeenshire Council’s Phoenix Fund. The fund was launched in response to the lockdown in March and is designed to provide financial support for collaborative business-led projects in up to 25 towns across Aberdeenshire.

The project’s main aim is to develop and launch a new app to showcase Huntly and district, which is due to be launched in early Spring.

Helen Kings, Treasurer of Huntly Business Association commented, “We are delighted to welcome Vivien into the role and look forward to progressing the project. The app steering group, which is made up of Huntly Community Council, HDT, Huntly Business Association, The Hairst and Deveron Projects, has been working together and has finalised the app design. Vivien will build on this by sourcing and creating fresh content for the site, which will showcase everything Huntly and district has to offer the community, businesses and visitors alike.”

Vivien added, “I’m delighted to be working with the local community towards creating a one-stop-shop which will feature information such as events and what’s on, walks and places to explore, bus and train timetables, local news, local clubs and the businesses and organisations in and around Huntly.  I am passionate about tourism, hospitality and shopping local, and am excited to see the project flourish and deliver benefit to the Huntly community.”

After the app is launched, work will continue with local businesses towards shop local initiatives such as ‘Scotland Loves Local Aberdeenshire’ and on additional ways to encourage footfall into the town and to support Huntly’s local, independent businesses.
